Genoa is linked by major motorways to most major Italian cities, including Rome, Milan, and Florence. The roads are well-developed and traffic is mostly smooth, except in areas near the University and the shopping centres during peak seasons.

Travel by Air


Genoa city is accessible by plane through the C. Colombo Airport. From the airport to the university, visitors can easily take the VolaBus bus 100 and get off at the Piazza Principe railway station. They can walk to Via Balbi where the main university campus is located.

Car Parking


The university is located in an area where cars are restricted. It is inaccessible to people who own private cars unless they have special authorization from the local authorities. Visitors coming to Genoa with private cars can park in pay-parking areas such as the Acquario at the Expo Area, Terminal Traghetti at the Ferry Terminal, Piazza Bandiera, and at the city centre. After parking, they can head eastward to the Genoa Principe railway station and take the train to Via Balbi. The main campus is just a short walk from there.

Travel by Trains and Rail


Taking the train is a popular way for visitors to take a tour of the city and to get to the university from the city centre. Visitors can take the train from the Genova Piazza Principe station and get off at the Via Balbi station. From there, they can reach the university on foot.

Travel by Buses and Coachl


The university is accessible by bus. Those coming from the eastern districts can take the bus lines of the local transport utility (AMT) marked 18, 19, 20, or 34 and get off at Via Balbi. Those coming from the western districts can take buses number 18, 19, 20, or 30. They can get off at Piazza della Nunziata and walk to Via Balbi.

Travel by Taxi


Taxis are not allowed in the university area. However, visitors can still take the taxi from the airport, get off at the Piazza Principe railway station, and take the train to Via Balbi. The university is just a short distance away from the station.
